What hospice care includes
Hospice brings a full team of care to your loved one's home. The focus is comfort, dignity, and support for the whole family, not curing the illness.
What is hospice?
Hospice is care for people with a serious illness whose doctor expects six months or less if the illness follows its usual course. Instead of treatments aimed at a cure, hospice focuses on relieving pain and symptoms and making each day as comfortable as possible.
Care comes to your loved one at home, on a schedule that fits their needs, with a hospice nurse available by phone day and night.

What hospice doesn't include
It helps to know this up front, so there are no surprises. Care for health problems unrelated to the hospice diagnosis is still covered by your loved one's regular insurance.
- Treatments meant to cure the terminal illness
- Caregivers who stay in the home around the clock. Our team visits on a schedule and a nurse is on call 24/7, but day-to-day care is usually given by family or hired caregivers.
- Room and board in a nursing home or assisted living community
- Emergency room visits, ambulance rides, or hospital stays that weren't arranged by the hospice team
