Emotional, spiritual, and grief support

Serious illness affects the heart and spirit, not only the body. Our social workers and spiritual care counselors support your loved one and your whole family.

Emotional spiritual and grief support for hospice families

Support from our social workers

A serious illness brings hard feelings and hard decisions. Our social workers help your loved one and your family talk things through and plan ahead.

  • Counseling for patients and families
  • Help with advance directives and end-of-life planning
  • Help with paperwork, benefits, and community resources
  • Family meetings to talk through hard decisions

Spiritual care for every faith

Our spiritual care counselors visit people of every faith, and people of no particular faith. They listen, offer comfort, and can connect you with your own clergy or faith community. Spiritual care is always optional.

Grief support

Our support doesn't end when a loved one dies. We stay in touch with your family for up to a year, with check-in calls, grief resources, and referrals to support groups or counseling when you need them.

Common questions

Do we have to be religious to receive spiritual care?

No. Our spiritual care counselors support people of every faith and people with none. Spiritual care is always optional.

Can our own pastor or faith leader stay involved?

Yes. We welcome your own clergy and faith community, and our team can work alongside them.

When does grief support start?

It can start before a loss. Many families find it helps to talk about grief early. After a death, we continue to support your family for up to a year.
